Lifestyle Changes Allow Addicts to Break Free from Addiction

Wrists wrapped in chains

After years of battling his addition, Shane* had almost come to accept that he was an alcoholic and that he was going to die an alcoholic.

That was until he enrolled in the drug and alcohol rehab, Narconon Louisiana.

“My life was consumed with drinking. I had no idea what it felt like to live a ‘normal’ life and I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to find out,” he explained in a recent interview.

“By the time I got to Narconon I was a broken, lifeless person, but somehow Narconon Louisiana restored me to the person I used to be—the person that enjoyed life and was interested in what life had to offer.”

Shane’s battle with alcohol started almost fifteen years ago at the age of 17. “Drinking became my life, and anything else that happened to me was diluted by alcohol.

“I graduated college drunk, I got married drunk and shortly after, I got divorced drunk. By the time I got to Narconon my life revolved around drinking and stealing in order to pay for my alcohol.”

Narconon Louisiana is a two to three-month-long, inpatient drug and alcohol rehab that uses a unique method to allow people to permanently get off drugs and alcohol.

When a client enrolls in this program they are approached in two different ways in order to handle their addiction. The first approach is a body detoxification that allows a person to eliminate residuals from past drug or alcohol use which are the apparent source of the cravings that tend to force the person back onto drugs or alcohol.

“By the time I finished the courses I felt like I had been given the opportunity to start my life afresh….”

The second approach is through a series of life-skill courses to help the person reach his or her own understanding of how and why he got trapped in drugs or alcohol and to give the person the skills and tools to avoid falling back into that trap.

“By the time I finished the courses I felt like I had been given the opportunity to start my life afresh, without the weight of the bottle on my shoulders. It allowed me to feel like I was on the same team as the rest of the world,” explains Shane.

Narconon is one of the most workable drug rehab programs in the United States. In a field where the average success rate is between 12-20%, Narconon far surpasses this with the majority of its graduates achieving permanent recovery.

If you or anyone you know is suffering from drug or alcohol addiction and are looking for a program that gets results, call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.
