New Drug that Kills with One Dose

Grey Death

This new drug has caused deaths from Florida to Vancouver, Canada, with authorities warning that taking it even once could be fatal. Technically is not a new drug but a cocktail of very dangerous drugs mixed together that when mixed, result in life threatening consequences. The drug’s name sounds like something out of the movie, the Never-Ending Story…

Deneen Kilcrease of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told the associated press that Grey death is one of the most terrifying mixtures she has ever seen in her 20 years of forensic chemistry. It can be bought on the street in many places for only $10 a dose.

The deadly drug is made of a mixture of heroin, fentanyl, the elephant tranquilizer carfentanil and a synthetic opioid called U-47700. Another disturbing fact is that it has the appearance of concrete mix, which is where it gets its name. The drug can be taken either orally, nasally, smoked, or injected and is said to be 100 times more potent than morphine.>

If all of this wasn’t alarming enough, the drug has been verified through snopes.com, an online fact checker to be transmitted through air and skin contact. It can transmit so easily, in fact, it has caused fatal overdose through these kinds of contact.>

Many authorities are scrambling to figure out how to combat this new threat. One of the reasons this so hard to battle is even with the ingredients listed above, it is unclear if that is everything in the drug. Regarding this, Kilcrease had the following to say,

“To this date, I have no idea what makes it gray,” Deneen Kilcrease, a forensic chemist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab told CNN. “Nothing in and of itself should be that color.”—NY Daily News

Georgia police have seized over 50 batches of the drug, but connecting the cause of fatal overdoses back to Grey death is nearly impossible. Many times, when an overdose occurs, sometimes one or a couple of the substances in the mix will show up in testing.>

If you are not worried about others struggling with drug addiction or their family members, you should be. With the potency and deadliness of this drug, it is dangerous to even innocent bystanders.
