Blaming Others

“He slams the door so hard, the whole house shakes. I’m crying but more from rage than sadness. Again he is screaming how it is all my fault that he is the way he is. What was I supposed to do? Just ignore the needles and bags I found under the sink?”—Anonymous

Substance abuse is earth shattering for all those involved. It swallows up not only those who are using drugs or alcohol but also their loved ones.

They steal, lie, cheat, and blame those around them. When it comes down to it, they will get in a state where they will do anything to keep using. Addicts lash out at those who try to get them to clean up their act.

If you are in this situation, you need to realize this. Your loved one does not hate you—they are just grasping in any way they can to be left to continue to use drugs and get high.

Do not abandon them. Protect yourself and push them to make the right choice. If that means kicking them out of your house or taking away the car, that is what it may take. If you are having trouble and need professional help, call today. For over 50 years, the Narconon program has been helping those addicted to drugs and alcohol so they solve their problems and are able to live a life free from drugs and alcohol.

“I have gotten a lot of things out of the Narconon program. When I started, I was very angry and mad at the world. I thought everything was everyone else’s fault.”
“Now, I have learned who I am. I have become patient and learned to think before I act.”
