Should America Build a Wall?

America

President Trump’s idea to build a massive border wall on the Mexican border has been hugely controversial in the U.S. Many point to flaws with the plan, but some startling news may bring reason for consideration.

In Ohio, one of the states decimated by the opiate epidemic, it has been found that most of the heroin is coming from south of the border.

At first, I thought maybe this is just someone trying to throw around number’s to bring support to stiffer immigration laws. While this may still be the goal, the statement is not a fabrication.

“We understand that this heroin is primarily coming from Mexico, over the border.”
Rob Portman

This assertion, made by Republican Senator Rob Portman of Ohio was certified true by Politifact, a website that researches and determines the validity of statements made by political officials.

I am not saying we should or shouldn’t build a wall or stiffen immigration. I am sure there are plenty of articles you can read about the pros and cons on a border wall.

However, if this is true about drugs primarily coming into the U.S. from across the border, the bigger dilemma is what do we do about the drug problem?

Whether or not we should build a wall to prevent drugs from coming in to the U.S. is addressing the problem too far down the line. A lot of the drug trade has to do with supply and demand. Let’s face it, America has a huge appetite for drugs. At Narconon, we believe that the best way to prevent drug use is through educating children and adults on the true facts about drugs.

If you are in Ohio or another state, and your loved one is struggling with opiate addiction, do not wait to get them into treatment.
