“The Only Cure for a Junkie is an Air Bubble”

Girl saying Shhh…

I wish I could say I made up that horrible quote… but I didn’t. I have been writing articles about recovered addicts and giving advice for families for almost four years now. The sad thing is after I post an article there is usually at least one response that will be completely without empathy.

I realized something about those horrible comments later though. Depending on the situation this means one of two things. The first option is that they are lucky enough to never have had a loved one struggling with addiction. The second possibility is that they got hurt by a loved one’s addiction and they are lashing out.

Which in that case I am either happy for them that they have not had to experience addiction or my heart goes out to them in their time of suffering.

I am always glad when someone is able to overcome their demons and get their life back. It makes my day to find out that someone has gotten their loved one back.

The reality is that more people are affected by drug addiction each year. We need each other to overcome this opiate epidemic. People rarely make it to addiction treatment on their own, it is through the help, support, and sometimes push of those that love them.

Be there for those in recovery and those with loved ones in recovery. Please give us a call if we can help in any way.
