My Hard Work Paid Off
I never thought I was going to make it this far. Honestly, in the beginning, I never thought I’d complete the program, but I knew I’d give it a try. My first night here was the hardest. I was overwhelmed and felt depressed, mainly because I was missing my family so much. I made a friend while I was in withdrawal, which made my time go by faster and easier. Thanks to the staff, they helped me get through it and made my time better. As the days went by, I grew and became more optimistic. I felt peaceful and proud of myself. After completing withdrawal, I went on to sauna.
When I first started sauna, it was very hot, and I didn’t know how sitting there would help me. After a few weeks, my mind felt clearer, and I could feel more positive about it. I’m now able to sleep better without being in my thoughts. Even though I had some rough times, I was able to push through it, and that’s when I felt time starting to go by faster. I no longer felt cravings at the end of sauna, and I had no desire to do drugs. My body and my mind felt better.
“I felt like a different person, and I can now look at life from a different perspective. I feel much happier and wiser.”
After completing sauna, I went on to Objectives, and my negative mindset returned. Thankfully, that is something I overcame in Objectives. I was able to realize so many different things. The most challenging days were the first few, but once I pushed through it, I didn’t let anything stop me. Through the process, I learned that I am in control of everything that happens in life. I felt so accomplished each time I regained an ability. I felt like a different person, and I can now look at life from a different perspective. I feel much happier and wiser.
From there, I went on to life skills. I started with Ups and Downs, which helped me analyze different characteristics in my life and know who I need to disconnect from and who I need to surround myself with. I’m calmer about life now that I have everything that I needed to handle handled. I feel way better about my life. I then went on to Personal Values. Here is where I gained responsibility back, and I now have a different view of things and how everything affects everyone around me. I can be more careful with everything I do to myself and everything around me. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I have a stronger mindset of my actions. After personal values, I went on to Conditions. The Conditions course was my favorite part of the program. I’ve learned to be more considerate of others’ feelings and emotions. I also learned how to better communicate with those around me and be a more reliable person. I’m now ready to confront every situation that comes my way responsibly.
I’m so thankful for every staff member here who has shown that they genuinely care about our well-being and want to see us do better and be better. I couldn’t have done this without the amazing team at Narconon. I’m beyond grateful to have been blessed with this opportunity to make a new life for myself. I will miss my family at Narconon and will forever hold them in a special place in my heart. Thank you for making me a new person and giving me a chance at a new life. Hard work pays off!
