Narconon Louisiana Makes Significant Gains In The War On Drugs

2009 was definitely a year impacted by the horrifying side effects of illegal drugs. The reach of drugs and alcohol have spread from the silver screen with deaths like Michael Jackson and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein to our own homes where approximately 300,000 people died from illegal drugs this year. But drug abuse treatment facilities like Narconon Louisiana are providing treatment to people addicted to drugs and alcohol and are proving that our society will not tolerate drug use. In 2009 alone Narconon Louisiana had 120 people enroll in the Narconon program and maintained a 75% success rate for permanent sobriety.

Located just outside of Baton Rouge, Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility that sits, surrounded by hundreds of oak and cypress trees, on a ten-acre plot of land. Here, clients address their lives with one on one counselor supervision. Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease, instead they focus on what problems drugs were a solution for. Once that problem is isolated and handled, clients are able to live their life free from drugs and alcohol abuse.

One of the first steps that clients undertake is the New Life Detoxifiction. This unique detoxification method, developed by author and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard, allows the body to get rid of harmful drug and alcohol toxins that have attached to the fatty cells in the body. The program includes the use of a dry heat sauna, exercise and nutritional supplements. Those who have completed the action often remark how they no longer feel the intense cravings brought on by residuals of past drug use and are able to think more clearly.

The Executive Director of Narconon Louisiana, explained, “I talk to hundreds of addicts a year, they are all excited when I tell them that they don’t have a disease. Our program is really a life program, we show the addict how to handle their life, because their way of handling life was killing them.” He remarked further, “This year alone I have received over 1,900 success stories from clients raving about different parts of this program. Everyday I am amazed at how this program has the ability to change people, but what effects me the most is how these changes bring the addict back to the person they were all along, before drugs stepped in and changed them.”

In an environment that is flooded with drugs and images of people dying from drugs, it is easy to believe that addiction is a hopeless problem. Narconon Louisiana allows addicts to change. They prove that a life with drugs is not the norm – it’s the exception. Don’t let another year go by without handling drug and alcohol addiction.
