Narconon Louisiana Continues to Create Drug-free Lives

Providing addicts with a safe, peaceful atmosphere where they can achieve permanent sobriety has always been the goal of Narconon Louisiana. Narconon Louisiana is proud to announce that 90 individuals have graduated from the Narconon program in 2016.

Narconon Louisiana, a non-profit drug and alcohol treatment program, opened its doors in 2006 as a resource for locals struggling with addiction. After Hurricane Katrina, a small group of people visiting to help people get themselves re-established realized that there was no real treatment in place for drug use in the state. Now, Narconon Louisiana has been open for years and more than 950 people have graduated from the program. The presence of Narconon Louisiana means that the people of Louisiana do not have to suffer from addiction or be subjected to a drug-based rehabilitation that is really just more addiction.

The first phase of the Narconon drug rehab program is the drug-free withdrawal where, for each student, a personal Withdrawal Specialist is on hand to assist. They use nutrition and special techniques that ease discomfort and painful symptoms.

After withdrawal comes the New Life Detoxification program. This is where clients are able to rid their bodies of harmful drug residues that get stored in fatty tissues. It has been discovered that these residues can stay in the body years after drug use ends. These residues are associated with cloudy, slow thinking and the triggering of cravings that can occur even years later.

The third part of the Narconon drug treatment program works on the underlying mental and emotional issues that caused the individual to start using drugs in the first place. Once these issues are addressed, the former addict is able to look forward to a productive, sober life.

We are proud of the number of people our facility has graduated and we intend to handle many more. In the words of one of our staff: “The life of an addict is filled with pain, guilt and cravings, all of which result in an exhausting and usually short life. I am thrilled that we were able to help so many people this year, but this is just the beginning. There are a lot more people out there that need their lives back.”

The staff member went on to explain how people become addicts. “An individual will turn to drugs in an effort to solve a problem. Some people don’t feel comfortable in life and that is a problem for them. Others could start using drugs to handle a physical pain, while others turn to drugs to handle emotional pain. The point is that everyone has a different reason for choosing drugs.”

The one thing shared by all those addicted to drugs is that drugs offer a solution to a problem and until those problems are revealed and the individual is able to cope with them, they may continue to turn to drugs and/or alcohol.
