Meth in Indiana

Delaware County in Indiana has experienced an alarming number of methamphetamine lab incidents since the beginning of 2015. The county has seen 119 labs that needed dismantling and cleanup. Noble County was in second place with just 35. In 2014, Indiana had a total of 1,470 meth labs detected and dismantled, the highest number in the U.S.

According to one news report:

“In 2013, 109 meth labs were reported in Delaware County, second highest in the state. The county reached the top spot in 2014, with 148 labs, and seems certain to retain that dubious distinction this year.”

Meth labs create a variety of health and safety hazards. They can explode, causing severe property damage to the buildings that house them and neighboring buildings. These operations are purely makeshift chemical labs but that doesn’t make them any less dangerous.

Besides the threat of explosion, meth labs leave behind toxic contamination of the building and grounds. The cost of residential cleanup after a meth lab has been discovered can cost 10,000$ or more.

Methamphetamine is highly addictive and use of this drug presents obvious symptoms if you know what to look for. Someone abusing meth will show a loss in weight, insomnia, short periods of high energy and dilated pupils.
