FDA investigates Kratom Salmonella Outbreak
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the CDC, along with several local and state agencies started an investigation into kratom products spreading salmonella. The FDA confirmed kratom products connection to salmonella and on March 26th issued a recall to several distribution companies of kratom related drugs.
FDA Declares Kratom an Opiate
Back in November of 2016, the DEA postponed their decision to schedule kratom as a Schedule 1 drug. Schedule 1 drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no acceptable medical use and a high potential for abuse. Some examples of Schedule 1 drugs are heroin and marijuana, LSD and peyote.
