North Carolina ‘Teen Mom’ Doing Well after Drug Rehab

Jenelle Evans, a young mom featured in the television show “Teen Mom 2” has been doing well in college since she left rehab.

According to “Hollywood Life,” Evans has been getting good grades and staying out of trouble since she pled guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia months ago. After spending weeks in a drug rehab, she returned to North Carolina and is now trying to keep her life on the straight and narrow. Her son Jace is nearly two years old.

The situation that Evans has found herself in is far too typical for many teenagers across the country. More than half of all teenagers will try drugs before they graduate high school.

And no longer is marijuana the only gateway drug. North Carolina teens are abusing prescription drugs as well, in part because they’re so readily available from their home’s medicine cabinet or the bedside table of an injured relative.

Prescription drug take-back days, where police and federal authorities help people dispose of their unused prescription medications, have been conducted in North Carolina and other states in an effort to curb this problem, but teen drug abuse continues to rise.
