Baton Rouge, Louisiana Gets New Sobriety Court

According to The Advocate, a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has established a Sobriety Court for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This special court will hear cases for second-time DWI offenders. Baton Rouge is the only city to receive this grant in the state of Louisiana. As alcoholism and drunk driving go hand in hand, this court will aim to reduce the incidence of both by providing education and treatment to offenders.

Louisiana drug abuse rehab programs have long offered treatment to alcoholics in the Louisiana area. This new sobriety court can be expected to contribute to Louisiana alcohol and drug abusers receiving the drug rehab care they need.
